Program Evaluation
Illinois Going Home
- Principal Investigator: Robert Lalonde
Our most recent evaluation project is the Evaluation of the Illinois Going Home Program. In conjunction with scholars in the Harris School and Chapin Hall, The Survey Lab evaluated the implementation of a program designed to re-introduce ex-offenders from the Illinois Department of Corrections to the North Lawndale neighborhood in Chicago. The Going Home Program provides a variety of social services designed to create a transition from prison into community life. The Survey Lab conducted interviews with key staff persons at social service agencies participating in Going Home. Survey Lab staff also attended meetings of Going Home staff to observe staff interaction and learn about the program's successes and problems as it unfolded.
Evaluation of HIV Outreach and Prevention Programs
- Principal Investigator: Martha Van Haitsma, The Survey Lab
Client: The Chicago Department of Public Health
The Lab completed an evaluation of HIV Outreach and Prevention programs in the City of Chicago. This multi-level project used qualitative interviews to assess the relationship between agency goals and activities. The project also assessed current evaluation techniques used by agencies and determined what client information could assist in the agencies' future evaluation efforts. Survey Lab researchers accompanied outreach workers into the field where we observed the selected site and outreach activity in action. We also conducted in-person interviews with one or two outreach clients at each site.
